Workshop Presented by Chris Engle-Tjaden (KBI) and Rebecca Vincent (Johnson County Sheriff's Office)

This course will introduce the student to a variety of imaging techniques, which will make it possible to document both scene and lab conditions in low light scenarios. These techniques include long exposures, electronic flash, painting with light, chemiluminescence photography and multiple remote flash set-up. One of the most encountered scene conditions is a low light / no light lighting profile, and often times one of the most under-utilized pieces of equipment in a photographer’s gear bag is the external flash. By the end of this course the student will have an advanced knowledge associated with the principles of light and light behavior and how photographers can manipulate light to create accurate and high quality imaging for investigative documentation. In order to better understand the equipment and techniques it is highly recommended the student bring their equipment they generally use during the documentation of evidence or crime scene conditions. In addition this course will contain several opportunities to practice the techniques presented during the lecture.
